Title: Autonomous Applications of Doubly-Fed Induction Generators in Stand Alone Wind Turbines

Ph.D. (May 1994)

Computational Physics, University of Texas at Austin, USA

Advisor: Prof. Ethan T. Vishniac

Dissertation Title: A Numerical Study of the Formation and Clustering of Dwarf Galaxies in a CDM Model

N-body Computer Simulations of a three dimensional periodic volume of the universe are conducted using a self developed PPPM code, assuming that 90% matter in the universe consists of collision-less Cold Dark Matter. An evolution over a period of 10 billion years is studied and comparison of the simulated system versus the real universe is made by calculating the two point correlation functions and the velocity moments of the galaxies formed in the simulated system. The simulation uses 323 gas and 3x323 dark matter particles in a 5.253 Mpc3 volume.

M.Phil. ( August 1986)

Physics / Applied Mathematics, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan

Advisor: Prof. Asghar Qadir

Thesis Title: Galactic Halos

Effects of central visible matter over the “Dark Matter” halos around spiral galaxies is investigated in (a) A Classical Isothermal Configuration, and (b) A Fully Degenerate Configuration, assuming that the dark matter is composed entirely of massive neutrinos. Limits on the neutrino masses are deducted in the two extreme cases by obtaining flat rotation curves after finely tuning a number of different parameters.

M.Sc. (March 1984)

Physics, Government College/Punjab University, Lahore, Pakistan

Advisor: Prof. Chaudhary Noor Muhammad

Thesis Title: A Study of Organic Liquid and Plastic Scintillators

Effects of different organic solutes in plastic and liquid solvents is studied for best scintillation properties for the detection of radiation. The liquid scintillators are in turn used to detect and estimate the amount of Radon gas in Uranium bearing ore, hence the percentage of Uranium in the ore is estimated.
