Metallographic Sample Preparation Equipment
Abrasive cutting is generally used for metal specimens and is accomplished with silicon carbide or alumina abrasives in resin or resin rubber bonds. Proper blade selection is required to minimize burning and heat generation during cutting which degrades both the specimen surface as well as the blade cutting efficiency.
Precision cutting is used for precise and deformation-free cutting of metals, ceramics, Electronic Components, Crystals, Composites, Biomaterials, Sintered Carbides and Minerals.
MICRACUT Precision Cutter has its place in virtually any metallurgical, geological, electronics, research, biomedical or industrial laboratory.
After cutting the specimen, the next step is mounting. The aim of mounting is to handle small or odd shaped specimens and to protect fragile materials, thin layers or coating during preparation as well as to provide good edge retention.
Grinders and Polishers
Grinding and Polishing Machine is a double wheel machine suitable for 200 mm and 250 mm wheel size, standard interface for FORCIMAT automatic specimen mover variable speed between 50-600 rpm, with digital display, 3/4 HP motor with overload protection. A set of standard grinding & polishing consumables; an assortment of 100 grinding papers (various grits), 5 polishing cloths, Diamond suspensions and lubricant are part of the system.
Spin coating is a procedure used to deposit uniform thin films to flat substrates. Usually a small amount of coating material is applied on the center of the substrate, which is either spinning at low speed or not spinning at all.
The Laurell spin coater is compact and packed with advanced features. This 650-series coater system accommodate up to ø150mm wafers and 5″ × 5″ (127mm × 127mm) substrates, and features a maximum rotational speed of 12,000 RPM (based on a ø100mm silicon wafer).
Ductless Fume Hood
A fume hood is a device which limits exposure to hazardous or toxic fumes, vapors or dusts during a chemical reaction.
Basic Fume Hood in Materials Synthesis Lab protects the user and the environment from hazardous vapors generated on the work surface. It provides a high level of filtration performance. At the heart of the fume hood product line, is the Filtration Technology that creates a safe work environment.
A centrifuge is a piece of equipment that puts an object in rotation around a fixed axis (spins it in a circle), applying a force perpendicular to the axis of spin that can be very strong. The centrifuge works using the sedimentation principle, where the centrifugal acceleration causes denser substances and particles to move outward in the radial direction. At the same time, objects that are less dense are displaced and move to the center.
