Spin coating is a procedure used to deposit uniform thin films to flat substrates. Usually a small amount of coating material is applied on the center of the substrate, which is either spinning at low speed or not spinning at all.
The Laurell spin coater is compact and packed with advanced features. This 650-series coater system accommodate up to ø150mm wafers and 5" × 5" (127mm × 127mm) substrates, and features a maximum rotational speed of 12,000 RPM (based on a ø100mm silicon wafer).

A centrifuge is a piece of equipment that puts an object in rotation around a fixed axis (spins it in a circle), applying a force perpendicular to the axis of spin that can be very strong. At the same time, objects that are less dense are displaced and move to the center.
