Dr Suhail Zaki Farooqui

Dr. Suhail Zaki Farooqui acquired his Ph.D. in the field of Computational Physics in 1994 from the University of Texas at Austin, USA, and his Postdoc in Wind Energy Technology from the Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden in 2006. He has served SUPARCO as Senior Scientific Officer from 1986 to 1999 before joining NUST, where he established the Wind and Solar Thermal Energy Research Laboratory. His work initiated from the grass roots level lead to filing of ten patents and over two dozen research publications in high impact factor journals. He served as the Director General of the Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies from January 2015 to July 2016. He joined the US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy, UET–Peshawar, as the Professor of Renewable Energy Engineering and Academic Program Developer in October 2016. He is the recipient of the NUST’s Best University Teacher Award and Gold Medal for the year 2008, and the 11th Most Productive Researcher of Pakistan Award for the year 2015-16. He has 8 granted patents to his credit, in addition to 45 research publications. He has also extensively lectured and written popular science articles in the print media to popularize science in Pakistan. His areas of research interest include small scale wind power, solar thermal systems, bio-mass and micro-hydro power.

S. (Saim) Saher


Saim Saher is Assistant Professor of Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion at USPCAS-E UET Peshawar. He studied characterization and performance enhancement of SOFC materials during PhD research in University of Twente (Netherlands) , RWTH Aachen University (Germany) and University of Montpellier-II (France) funded by EUDIME EACEA-EU. Before, he had studied Aerospace Engineering from Seoul National University (SNU, South Korea) and graduated as M.Sc. Aerospace Engineering in 2010. He has served renown national and international organization such as NESCOM (Pakistan), UET Peshawar, Inorganic Membrane (IM) University of Twente (Netherlands), Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (South Korea) and Intelligent Control System Laboratory (SNU, South Korea).

His main research interests are Fuel Cell (SOFCs, PEMFCs), Solar Cell (DSSCs, Perovskite Solar Cell, Multi-junction Solar Cell), Biomass Gasification and Innovative Solutions for Green Building. He is expert of catalytic reactor design, oxide characterization by pulse isotope exchange (PIE) and conductivity relaxation (ECR) techniques, material and structure characterization, surface morphology and coatings.
