MUST faculty and Students informed about USPCAS- E UET Peshawar’s Academic and Research Opportunities Featured

The USPCAS-E staff visited the Mir Pur University of Science and Technology (MUST) on 17th August 2016.  The staff reached out to the graduating engineers of Electrical Engineering (EE, Power) to inform them about Master’s admissions in Electrical Energy System Engineering. A detailed presentation was given to the students and faculty of EE (Power). It was informed that 51 students enrolled at the Center have been awarded merit and need-based scholarships fully-funded by USAID while there are 50% merit and need-based scholarships, and internship opportunities to women. In addition, the Center also offers U.S. exchange program under which 26 students from the center have attended one semester at Arizona State University.

The faculty was informed about applied research grants focusing on renewable energy that are to be announced for second time in near future. The faculty took keen interest and expressed their consent to apply for the call for proposals. The Vice Chancellor MUST, Prof. Habib Ullah appreciated the efforts of USPCAS-E in reaching out to the students and faculty of MUST.  He said, though we are faced with energy crisis in Pakistan there are opportunities which call for creating more joint ventures in power sector through continued research excellence and exploit the capacity to the fullest. “I believe that increasing research collaboration between universities is one of addressing this problem.” adding, MUST would welcome to establish academic and research linkage with USPCAS-E UET Peshawar in the field of energy.     

Prof. Shabir Mirza, Head of Department  said, as new emerging department, established in 2012, EE(Power) is aimed to provide quality education to the bright students in the field of Electrical (Power) Engineering who contribute towards resolving energy crisis in Pakistan.
