USPCASE-E UET Peshawar participated in USAID’s Radio Program ‘Aap Hum Aur Behtar Zindigi'

US Pakistan Centre for Advance Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E) UET Peshawar participated in USAID’s Radio Pogram ‘Aap Hum Aur Behtar Zindigi’ on FM-101, 7th June, 2018. The show highlighted USPCAS-E Sustainability’s component. Mr. Fazal Rabbi, Project Management Specialist, USAID, Ms. Shaista Afridi, Industry Liaison Manager, USPCAS-E UET Peshawar, Mr. Ammar Yasser, Corporate Engagement Specialist, USPCAS-E, Arizona State University (ASU), Mr. Fahd Latif, Assistant Chief Staff Officer, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Oil & Gas Company Limited (KPOGCL) Peshawar, Ms. Sundas Khan, Student, USPCAS-E, UET Peshawar and Mr. Sheraz Khan, Student, USPCAS-E, UET Peshawar participated in the program.

The program started with the introduction of participants and USAID endeavors in addressing the energy sector challenges of Pakistan.  Program emphasized USPCAS-E efforts of playing the role of a catalyst to strengthen the linkages between industry, academia and government partners to address the prevailing challenges of energy sector and finding real world sustainable solutions. Participants also highlighted the existing opportunities available at USPCAS-E for energy sector scholars, researchers and public & private sector. Future prospects of USPCAS-E including the nurturing opportunities for underprivileged students was also discussed through an interactive session of questions and answers. USPCAS-E has been taking forward the mission of USAID by empowering women and providing them 50% quota of the available slots for master and PhD programs.  Students of USPCAS-E illustrated their experience of Internship at KPOGCL and Student Exchange Program at ASU. USPCAS-E has established state of the art laboratories to equip future energy leaders with applied knowledge to address the energy sector challenges.  

Mr. Ammar Yasir highlighted the technical role of ASU regarding sustainability of USPCAS-E and exploring new opportunities. Mr. Fahd Latif briefly discussed the collaboration of USPCAS-E and KPOGCL in strengthening academia and industry associations for commencing applied and market based research in academia. In the end, Ms. Shaista Afridi acknowledged FM 101 team and also extended invitations to energy sector researchers, industry and public & private sector organizations for joint ventures to find sustainable solutions for energy sector challenges.

An interactive 38 minutes’ program broadcasted from 9 stations including Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, Multan, Karachi, Quetta, Sialkot, Faisalabad and Hyderabad.
