Special Assistant to Chief Minister KP for Science & Technology and Information Technology (ST & IT), Mr. Kamran Khan Bangash along with Director of Science and Technology Directorate, Dr. Khalid Khan, visited U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E), University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar.

Mr. Bangash was briefed by Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain about USPCAS-E. Founding Director, Dr. Najeeb Ullah delivered a detailed presentation about the role of USPCAS-E and its achievements so far in the field of energy. Dr. Najeeb mentioned in his brief that USPCAS-E is carrying out research work in the field of Renewable Energy, Thermal Systems Engineering, Energy Policy and Electrical Engineering System. He further shared that USPCAS-E has already been declared Think Tank for solutions to energy related issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking at the occasion Mr. Bangash commended the work of USPCAS-E. He praised the efforts of USAID for addressing the challenges of energy sector by establishing specialized higher education institutes in the region. He expressed gratitude and thanked USAID for the initiative by establishing USPCASE which is aimed to empower the young engineers of KP. He added, since ST&IT sectors are in dire need of immediate consideration and therefore KP government is resolute on improving these sectors. Mr. Bangash reiterated that provincial government will put all the possible efforts to stay on course of assisting the endeavors made for the betterment of institutions like USPCAS-E.

USPCAS-E in collaboration with World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) Pakistan Chapter organized seminar on the subject of “Impact of 18th Constitutional Amendment on Governance of Renewable Energy in Pakistan”. The aim of the seminar was to hold an interactive session with students of USPCAS-E to orient them on policy procedures related to the governance of renewable energy projects. Students of Energy Management and Renewable Energy participated in the seminar. During the two-hour interactive session students and guest speakers exchanged ideas on governance challenges, way forward and potential of wind energy in KP.

USPCAS-E aims to prepare young minds to understand not only the energy challenges at scientific grounds but also to be an active part of policies formulation.


U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies, UET Peshawar participated in Job Fair Organized by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) and Renewable & Alternative Energy Association of Pakistan (REAP).

USPCAS-E students visited the stalls of different private sector industries to explore career opportunities. USPCAS-E also established stall at the fair to connect with private sector energy related industries and to connect with energy sector engineers as part of student outreach campaign for Spring 19 admissions. Stall visitors were oriented by USPCAS-E staff on the opportunities available including state of the art research laboratories and advanced degree programs in energy engineering.
